Is slop in changing gears normal for an NM Pajero?

Hi,

I'm looking to buy an NM Pajero but the gearshift has a lot of slop when changing between gears. Is this normal for an NM? I've had NL, NG and NF manual Pajeros before and the gear shift has usually had a fairly precise gear change. Are NL and NM Pajero gearboxes the same? Just wondering if i buy the Pajero i've seen, if it can be fixed.

Cheers

When I bought my NL, I was told that the gearbox was a heavy duty version as used in the Canter trucks. It certainly had a precise gearshift mechanism, and as far as I am aware, this box carried over to the NM model as well, and indeed was still being used in the later models including my current NW Pajero. You may have a worn bushing on the lever mechanism.
