Farkin' OUCH! World record jump attempt.....

I really don't get into these sort of vids usually, but this has some pretty spectacular footage from a number of angles. You can watch the whole thing or fast forward to the final jump attempt.

It amazes me that there are people who believe that a vehicle once it leaves terra firma will continue on a straight trajectory. ...to simply plop to the ground and ...

Flying through the air has no ground effect,...the car's attitude is due to gravity acting on the hard surface, but when it has no ground beneath it will be influenced by weight distribution, wind, aerodynamic shape..

Brave but stupid.

He mentions earlier in the vid about how much time and money they spent getting the weight distribution right. It worked up to about 80m of flight, but got all farked up after that.

The roll is pretty spectacular anyway :D

They obviously didn't do a good job. Having a heavy motor at the front means that it's always going to nose dive as it loses forward momentum. Pisser result though.

I recall working around Paddington and there were a couple of spots where you could get airborne with no problems.

One memorable night going over Caxton street and looking out the side window and the no standing sign was the same level as the door.

Must have been an altitude of about 4 feet in a bog standard falcon.

He was going really well until he lifter the go pedal, then other forces came into play. He should get a record for the longest distance in a roll without touching the ground tho.

In a time now forgotten there used to be a portion of South Road Moorabbin where Ford Divisional Vans could enter a period of nil gravity and by coincidence the unruly passengers in the rear also underwent that feeling of flying.....on arrival at the docking station their euphoria was still apparent as they have must have been in a state of Nirvana due to the 'up lifting' experience of space travel.

I swear, during the launch such persons could be over heard yelling ," I'm King of the World"...or similar. :D

I think they are pushing way into the area of aircraft with the hang time they are getting and ultimately, with no control until your tyres touch back down, your in the hands of mother nature, and sometimes mother nature is a fucking bitch!
