Well, a lot has happened since this post. Dad passed away 5 months later and Eden commenced kindergarten today.

Time does not stand still.

Time flies mate.

Didn't realise, your dad was only a year older than mine. My dad was born in 1925. 40 years anniversary of his death this year. :-(

My mum was 36. I found her in the kitchen when I was 9yo. I think it was a brain aneurysm. :-(

My dad died a bit over a year later from a cardiac. He was on his way home from work. He was 51yo.

On my mum's side, they tend to make it well into their 80's. She obviously got the short straw.

If my sums are right we're the same age AJ.
Sorry to hear that about your folks.
Mine are both still around but they have managed to remove themselves in thier own way from the rest of us.
Don't communicate with my sister or i and by email only with my younger brother . Sad really they see none of their grandkids but every time we do make an effort they manage to piss everyone off by dragging up old family issues.
Not surprisingly neither of my parents really saw their parents either. Same sort of thing. When we were kids most family gatherings turned into a screaming match and us being bundled into the family car and going home early lol.
But meh. ....

On other news, I've been absent from here a few weeks. ..head down busy.
I turn 50 in 2 months.
And am racing Finke in 5
Lots of bike building to be done. Ahhhh quality shed time. Is there anything better?
My friends aren't holding me back..... I'm pulling 'em forward.

Can understand this now. Family has always been important to me.
in the last 18months or so, I've been shafted by my brother for a relatively insignificant amount of coin while helping him out, his behaviour around this was repulsive and completely destroyed respect and trust.
Also more recently, I stood in the way of my sister and her partner who were manipulating my dad into selling his house to buy a house for them. Dad would have been isolated from friends and stuck in a barely habitable granny flat in a steeply hilled suburb away from friends and family, no where to walk his dog safely, no where to tinker in a shed (a big part of my dads time), no private space, and he was told that I would not be welcome to come and visit him!!. Some of the crap and agression that came out through this episode and since was fucking disgraceful.

My family rarely yell and scream, instead you get the silent treatment, deathly looks, and snide comments.

Unfortunately, you can't choose your family, and if friends behaved in the same way, you'd cut them from your life. Fuck em!! I would be reluctant to piss on them if their hair was on fire now!

christmas just gone was me, my boy and my dad. Poor old Mum (RIP) would be looking down in despair!

Must be the year for milestones. 30 in 5 months. Feels strange when I think I joined here when I was 19 and all the things that have changed in that time, including myself.

Sheesh. Hearing your stories makes me so glad my family is what it is. We don't fight - our disagreements are vented and then that's the end of it. Won't be any shitstorms when anyone passes either. There's no entitlement in our family, inheritance is considered a privilege not a right.

Geez Tiny, great grandchild #17? My grandparents are 80 and only just got their first!! Go your Nan!!

Re: "The Totaly Off Topic Thread"

We purchased this toddler bed for our 3-year-old son and he loves sleeping in it!
I like that it looks such "realistic" and nice and is like a giant toy in our son's room! Very unique and I'm sure our son will have awesome memories with it.
Have someone here ever dreamed about such a car-bed?

Hello anyone who is left.

Is this site going to remain?

It is an incredible source of information when working on an old truck.

Shame it's a backwater now.
