Well, the rebuild of Ahs's (Magott4x4) Juggernaut 'Tommy Knocker' is going well. It took a while to get started with all the other work I've had to do but I made a fair bit of progress today.
So far I have lowered the centre tranny by about 12mm, lowered the battery cradle by a massive 40mm, new 4-link geometry and fine tuning, locked the diffs, new shocks and shock mounts, new servo mounts and the next thing will be new heavy duty drag links and tie rods then body mounts.
The new suspension geometry works really well with minimised axle twist through the suspension motion, no binding from the driveshaft, no rubbing, no interference and nicely sprung thanks to a set of Terra Crusher Shocks. The clearance is awesome thanks to the new 4-link system.
I've actually used TXT-1 upper gearcase covers with the integral link mounts so the upper links triangulate at the axle. The lower links triangulate at the chassis but are mounted to the top of the axle case to improve the symetry of the system. The vertical spacing of the links is the same at the axle mounting points as it is at the chassis. The triangulation is identical between top and bottom (ie both outer mounting points are the same distance apart and both inner mounting points are the same distance apart).
Here's some pics in it's current state.

Very impressive!
I like the shock setup. Very neat.
Great thinking with the TXT link mounts. |

Just wondering where ya got the idea of lowering the center gearbox and triangulate the top and bottom links!
Wish i had thought of that!

Yeah it's a pitty you didn't think of it........you might be able to claim it.
Russell and I actually came up with the idea late one night in his 'office', you were just the guinea pig.
It works though....
Fair bit of friggin around for a 10mm drop, would have been better off letting some air out of the tyres to lower the CoG |

Any imitation is just that ,an imitation.
There can be only one ,as it says at the bottom of my thread ,
Big Juggs rules the roost.
Looks good bro, seems all my lessons on engineering ,geometry, and modifications are finally paying off...
The only thing lacking now is a good name for her,you can't call her tommyknocker any more can you??? |

All finished.
The Bronco body looks tops and I avoided cutting too much out of it.
Everything seems to work well and it has gobs of controlled articulation.

Looks awesome! Now get practising before the next comp!
Nice pile of rubble in the backyard Adman... Only an RC crawler would love a big pile of broken bricks and concrete in the corner of the yard |

Yeah the landlord made a sandpit from an old pergola of some form.....
I just fixed it !!
It's ideal for the bruiser but a bit too easy for the bigger trucks.
It's nice to have a little test track in the back yard to try out your new mods.
