Well i have been backpacking around the world for the last three months and missed the 4WDin very much. Theres hardly any 4WD's through europe but in Ireland and Scotland everyone has an isuzu trooper. But none of them are done up. Good to catch up on the news and u boys have been busy.

I returned home to find my battery has died and the oil leak has now formed a 2ft deep puddle. Its the sump seal. i dont really want to pull the motor out again so i am looking at droping the diff and axle down to get the sump off. Has anyone done this before???? I will do the CV boots and put new joints on as well.

any comments????

Cheers,
Greazy

Welcome back Greazy! Smile

Sorry about the late reply. I'm up in Perth at the moment so limited computer access. Was wondering where you had got to... Backpacking must have been a hoot.

My old man and I pulled the front diff out of the Jackaroo a couple of years ago to install the lokka and I can tell you that its a pretty big job as you have to remove most of the suspension components to get to the diff.
Cant give details now but will when I get home to my workshop manual. I imagine the componentry is pretty similar for our vehicles...

Cheers,

Noel

Now you're thinking! Cool

Would be the perfect oportunity (and excuse Wink ) to whack a locker in there. Do you know which lockers will fit you're diff? Do you have the Isuzu corp 10 bolt?

Well well, where do i start.

Went out 4wd the other day with some mates the car went well except for oil spittin out the bottom of it and basically no brakes. After washing it down and removing the wheels to inspect the brakes i discovered that my pads in the drum are down to metal and the drum has actually been worn into about 3mm. Which means all new drums for me.......... Crying or Very sad very costly i am not very happy at this stage and am tossing up whether or not to just start again on another car????

These machines are fun but they really know how to hurt especially when the bank to already knocking at your door....

Thats my bitching over with.....

i however found some inspriation from the website www.independent4x.com u have probably already seen it but after seeing the beast with the same front grill as mine, well lets just say the wetdreams begun.

Cheers,
Greazy

Sorry to hear of your misfortune Greazy!

Should be able to find some cheapies at the wreckers maybe?

you are allowed to replace the Jack under one condition: That is with another Jack. Very Happy But seriously hope it doesnt turn out too costly for you.

And yes Matt at Independent4x has done awesome things to his Trooper although there isnt much original Trooper there... Wink
If that aint inspiration then nothing is...

Cheers,

Well i finally got around to doing it. Picked up two drums from the wreakers in pretty good nick for $25 each, new brake cyclinders and pads for $80 from repco and i didnt have to much trouble putting them back together. My old ones were rooted, it was actully abit scary to see what sort of nick they were in. The only bad part was when i decided to change the fuel filter and got fuel in my eye. shit it hurt!!!! but not as bad as carby cleaner. I also put a stright through pipe on with no muffler. all i have is a resinator right at the back. its got abit more bulls and sounds alot louder now. Cool

now i have to save for the big job Mad

cheers,
Greazy
