My Clod has arrived people...
I can definitely recommend Stella Models in HK, as it arrived very fast to Kalgoorlie, which seems to be the end of the Earth sometimes!! 7 days from when I ordered it... and it was well packaged.
I'm thinking I will build it up stock first, and see the difference to when I make a chassis for it... I've never seen one in real life before, so the size of the tyres gave me a huuge grin!!
Any tips for assembling these bad boys, please?
Thanx

Rangie , my advice is to sit and have a good scan through the instructions to see what you need, tools and the like.
Go and buy all the bearings you need that should be about 4 - 6 , 8by5 and around 15-16 ,12 by 6 bearings. they are a standard Tamiya size so you should not have any trouble getting them .Just go through the instructions to find the proper amount cause you may as well do it right from the beginning.
If you keep using the supplied bushings they will flog out all the plastic bearing cups that they sit in.
If you are going to lock the diffs you may as well do it from the start too this way the gears are nice and clean to stick together.Like the good old C.I.G lockers.
If you have any troubles don't hesitate to ask |

Thanx Russell
I plan to lock the rear diff for now, and see how it goes... I don't want it too capable to start with... hehe
I'm hoping Bearing Services or CBC will have the bearings I need, as it is a pain to get things through the one and only local toy shop... We are only 6 hours from Perth, yet it takes a week to get things... Sheesh!!
Thanx

No worries Mate, see you in Perth...
So what does this mean for completion of your Stadium Thunder Project?

Nice work Randal.
As Russell said, get all your bearings now and lock your diffs as you assemble it. Get yourself some loctite 243 and use it on everything.
It's hillarious to watch it drive around in stock form because there is no shock absorbtion so it bounces around heaps.
Have fun

Noel, I still plan to get the Rockin' Thunder done... I need the practice at the building chassis part.
Cheers Adman. I'm interested to see the capabilities of a stock clod, although it will have a locked rear diff to start with...
I have Loctite 242, how does that differ to 243? I better do a search...
EDIT: Found it... Seems to be the same thing other than the 243 can deal with oil.
Thanx
