I was talking to a bloke on another forum but wondered wether anyone else owned on of these. It's hard to find a decent pic of one. Can you post one up if you own one? How are they offroad? What kind of running gear is in it? Am a big fan of Merc's and think it'd be a VERY Very capable vehicle. Ta. -Alex (not so uncommon... Hliux) |

I am not sure what a 280GES is, but a 280GE would be quite a nice car for sure. I have seen one, about a 1981 vintage with mechanical fuel injection. I know there are some others around that are much newer such as Tonka's girlfriends.
As they were never inported into Australia officially, they will be very hard to find. Only 300GD LWB and 230GE SWB were official imports, and I have also seen a 300GD SWB, but I am almost certain this was a private import or a special order.
Owning a G takes a bit of nerve though - they are old cars and there are no wrecker parts sources for them. There are very few people who have any knowledge about them. A 280GE will not even appear on the Merc parts system in australia, so you will be on your own there.
