Guys, I have heard some reports of the 3000Mah batteries burning out speed controllers. Has anyone had any problems with this?

Also, how long are you getting out of a 3000Mah when crawling?

No probs here. What ESC are they talking about? Cheapies?

I run a Novak Super Rooster.

I probably get between 25 - 35mins out of a 3000.

I find NiCds have more slightly punch / torque though.

I'm not sure on the brand, I know it cost him $175usd though. It was on a road racer.

Sounds like the speedie may have been getting hot, the extra run time of a 3000 may have allowed time for it to get too hot.

I still run 2400 in my trucks, I can get around 30 mins out of each. MiMH are a bit fiddly to look after, and NiCad still has a more continual punch. For trucks that-is.

The Super Rooster is the only way to go with a crawler. I've only ever had one go spastic on me.

That is a LOT of $$$ for a battery. I haven't bought batts in Oz yet but my guess is that you could buy 3 or 4 good quality 2400mAh NiCd batts for that price.

He paid $175 for the S/C not the batteries.

Nimh batteries have alot more maintenance to keep in good shape plus you need a proper nimh charger .The dearer nimh cells like the v,i,s or voltage increase system cells are really good but you will pay for them .
Early nimh cell had alot of problems with internall resistance issues but these probs were overcome .
They are still improving them and now days you can get 3300 and even talk of 4000 and 4400 mah nimh these would last for ages in a crawler 8)
