moving the diff forward in a bj73

just wondering if there r any bolt in springs that can be put in the front of a sprung under bj73 2 move the diff forward ??

what happens of you just spin the springs around backwards?

the spinning of the springs, is the easiest way, BUT i think the centre pin is centred on that model, got tyo a wrecker, I am 100% sure if you measure springs from a 1981 or onwards to 1984 spring pack, and put it in the front (witha shackle reversal, or re-drilled main leaf) to keep the mil. wrap over the fixed end, you can gain as much as 4" but more like 2" Wink

new tailshaft, pinion angle changed?

Spin it around you will get 40mm out of it

NO, but for safety it is best to re-drill hte main leaf, to get the mil. wrap on the fixed end of the spring.

flipping 40 series springs in a 40 series, can give you.... 85mm

but will give around about 45-50mm in that model id guess going by the other stats.

Tailshaft, brake lines need to be sorted

So you can run a larger diamater tyre without rubbing the firewall and also to improve approach angle.

Spin the spring pack around but drill the top leaf like BJ said
tail shaft and brake lines will be ok but you will have to do shock mounts to suit
The idea of turning the springs around gives you more clearence between tyre and guard

sorry gordon (madshort) i think you are the blue B from TTC? i cannot see the tailshaft copping a 40mm wheelbase extension, but ive never done one, it seems it would fall out first time it flexed up......

What size tyre are you looking at , a simple fix is to redrill the centre bolt hole in the spring saddle on the diff housing and the saddle plate you can get and easy 40mm forward which is good for up to 37" tyres. That is with a 2" body lift.
