OK, like all good plans mine seem to change like the wind.. anyway I am soon to be the proud owner on a 1990 22R powered Dual cab Hilux. I intend to put a late model V6 into it as I never rated the 22R as a power plant. So I am after suspension recommendations for it. I am not intending to Rock Crawl with it and it will be daily driver. I have a few outback trips planned and do some medium to hard 4WD ( By Fully Road Registered Standards ) I have twin lockers for it and a set of 285 x 75 x 16 MTR's (33" ish size). I will be running a 1" maybe 2" body lift to help the rubber clear.
That brings me to springs and shocks.. I would like about a 3" lift from stock so what are the recommendations ? what works and what don't.
I don't really want to go moving spring hangers and the likes so would preffer bolt on spring packs. If it has to be done then so be it ..

Mate most of the Spring conversions i have done won't suit you as there is the need to move spring hangers etc etc.

Most after market springs like "old man emu" will be what you are looking for!

I ran "Old Man Emu" in a 95 hilux for about 4 years and they were pretty good!

There wont really be a great difference between spring that you can buy of the shelf, they all perform realitivly the same!!!

As for shocks most of them are made in the same factory and are just simply re-badge!!!

My only reconmendation is to run RANCHOS as they are a pretty tough shock and they are also adjustable!!!

Myself and Ruff run very similar front end suspension and we get more flex out of them than pretty well any other leaf sprung hilux but we have moved hangers, the springs we used are stock standard hear hilux packs that we have chopped and change and spent quite a bit of time with trail and error!!

Like i said this method wont really suit you but all up it would set you back about $300.00 but you would then have to get it engineered!

Engineering don't really worry me and if moving the hangers will let me have a good on / off road setup for that sort of money then I am interested to hear more.
The main reason I wasn't keen to move hangers and the likes was because of the snow ball effect, move the hangers, change the steering and on we go.

BUT I am always open to options so do tell how they drive .
