Very Happy Kev, had a look at ur sit. Nice cargo area. Hadn't thought of a split system. S'pose u have xtra kids! Who did the sidesteps, i'm in the market for a rear bar +steps as well - wot $$. Is the whole step using the clamp / bolt on arrangement or just the rear mount?
The pic at LCMP, cool short track that one. Works great with a locker. Managed to show up a few toyo's goin up it me-self.
cheers, scott.

Scott,
I made the sidesteps myself (with the help of my Bro Inlaw's workshop, and welding skills)
They're 60mm x 2.5mm gal tube and clamped the same front & rear, all up the materials
cost approx $200 + $50 to get powder coated. I'm working on modifying them, higher
and wider and a extra conection to the chassis, also working on a rear bar,I keep mangling
those stupid plastic corners , want a better departure angle and something to slide on under
the rear quarter panels. Smile

You're right about the kids, 4 of em Shocked ,and a wife Smile

Chow 4 now,

Hello all, here is one from me. It is from a competition called Evros Trophy, which took place in March in northeast Greece. There were participants from Turkey, Bulgaria and Rumania as well. Pajeros ruled in this Trophy! Cool

The car has improved much since then. Mostly thanks to this forum and Frank. The only think of looking at now is improving the front suspension. I think that SAS is possibly the only serious solution but quite complicated.

Hi John, congrats on a fabulous olympics Very Happy
Good to hear the 5.29's and t/case gears are in so you must have the meanest Paj in Greece now Wink

Cheers, Frank.

Hi Frank,

yes everything is in and is working very well. I had to change the whole transfer box though, to fit the gears in. There was no way to fit them in the original.

The Pajero is probably now the best equiped in the country. Smile

But my main problem is the front suspension now, it seems to hold the car back. I am looking for several options (longer a arms, SAS etc.). But everyone I discuss it with is giving me a different opinion. Confused

Yeah mate it's a tough one.......................
I guess it really depends on the terrain you drive (or want to drive) and what you want your rig to do.
I really think after putting a locker in the front there is no point in developing the IFS and it would be a waste of $$$
In reality long travel IFS still doesn't have the unsprung weight of a live axle so stability and traction will still be issues.
However with twin lockers and swaybars removed/disconnected they will still go very far with the right tyres.
Developing a long travel IFS would all be custom work (expensive) and would most likely end up costing close to a SAS anyway without as much offroad improvement.
I was at the end of the road with mine it was either leave it as is do a SAS or sell and upgrade to a front live axle vehicle. I decided on a SAS as it would be cheaper than upgrading and I luv the truck Very Happy
