SNORKEL Vs Air Vents

Well the weather is getting really hot in here (55 degrees) and I have two thoughts
A snorkel or Air Vents?
I am really keen on getting the snorkel but know crap about how it fits
Could you guys advice on which is better and where to get what from?
I am running a TB42E LWB GQ

I wouldn't want to say whether snorkels or air vents are better; they have different purposes.

what do you want it for?

To get the hot air out?

Snorkels are primarily for keeping water out of the engine, and getting dust free air to the engine...

Air vents are for letting heat out of the engine bay...

I need the snorkel to let more air in to the engine and I thought that the vents if placed inverted would do the same
If it was up to me I would drive with the engine hood open

Just to clarify, "getting air to the engine" can mean a few different things.

(1) getting air into the engine to burn the fuel with
(2) getting air to flow through the engine bay to keep the engine cooler

And (2) is mainly about getting air to flow through the radiator first anyway; it's giving the air/heat somewhere to go after it has passed through the radiator and the fan etc.

(2) is the reason people fit air vents (basically).

(1) is normally fine with a standard intake except that sometimes people want to get cooler air into the motor (for power, not really for engine temperature as such) so they move the intake outside the engine bay. In the case of a GQ, the standard intake is already outside the engine bay.

People are also sometimes worried about getting water into their air intake, so for this they fit a snorkel.

If you aren't proposing to do any water crossings etc, you don't need a snorkel. If you're purely concerned about heat, go for the air vents.

If you're REALLY concerned about engine temperatures, add another electric fan in front of the radiator. If you're still concerned, add an electric water pump, get a better radiator... etc... etc...
