I am thinking about changing the diff ratio in my MK SWB petrol. What is the best way to go about it?do I
a)Just swap centres
b)Swap centres and drive shaft in diff
c)Swap complete diffs

or any other ideas will be great.
Currently have 4.625 I think diesels are 4.111

Swap rear centre, swap whole front axle assy.

Find someone who want to swap for lower ratios.

That depends what you can get your hands on?? Its a real easy job to just change the rear diff centre, not much harder to swap the ring and pinions, the front is a little harder, but still possible, If you becide to swap the centres just make sure that they match - splines, etc.
I take it you want to rev a little lower by going to 4.11s, Have you got a 4sp or 5sp, I'd put in a 5sp if i didn't already have one rather than swap diffs, there's one for sale in the for sale section i think.
Both of my cars have 4.875 diffs in them, the shorty mk has a 5sp and 31s and the mq tray has a 4sp and 35s/36s Twisted Evil , and they are both originally diesels.
I'm not too sure what cars had the 4.11s maybe the p40 engine Question

Unfortunatly it is only a 4 speed.I have a 5 speed here but the mods required means gearbox further back, shorter tailshafts and modify gearbox mounts. The minister for finance has really put the screws on me with money spent on it.
