Wandering around sugarloaf with a mate today. Stumbled across a Pootrol laying down for a nap.

Tried to recreate the scene but couldn't come to a solid conclusion.

It looks like joe-blow has been wandering down a steep incline (30degrees) and decided to go no further. Or perhaps came unstuck and got stuck.

We found a spot where someone had attempted to tow him back up, using 6mm nylon rope as the towstrap, tied to the towball. We found a wear mark in the ground about 30m from the stranded car where the rope has been grinding away on the sandstone until it eventually failed.

Obviously the rope broke, leaving the pootrol to go for a wander back down the hill assisted by gravity.

Plenty of ruts along the way saw the spare wheel ripped off, smashed windows and a carload of rubbish ejected.

The car ended up on it's side for a nap, with a bullbar beaten to death and all sorts of front end and panel damage. It's bounced off a few things on the way down.

Everything seems fresh, so I assume it's only happened this weekend.
However the parts strippers have already arrived.
Number plates were removed, but hundreds of leaflets with a mobile phone number on them were left beside the car. Confused

Should've cut the trees down before the descent and he wouldn't of had any dramas!!!

It'll buff out.

Should qualify for some sort of darwin award if they tried to recover it with that rope. #Rofl

Thanks for fixing the pic's Jas.

Not sure why the tree has been chainsawed down. Tried to find a reason but came up blank.
rear wheels are both there, it's just an odd angle in the ditch.
Still an odd find I thought.

Makes me laugh, if they took the plate so they wouldnt have to worry about it any more. Cos engine and chassi numbers cant be chased up.

But in saying that I would have probably taken the plates so I didn't have to worry about someone using them for drive offs.

Also I would hope I know enough people with 4wd's, that I would have had it recovery'd by now.

Is the tree on the truck or has the truck just ended up close to a pre-cutdown tree?

Tree is freshly cut with a chainsaw. It's on the car, but not enough to do damage.
Really a weird part of the puzzle that one.

Might have gotten stuck against the tree.

tried to pull it out with the rope?

rope fails it rolls down hill hit's into tree stuck in ruts plus tree.

cut down tree to free 4wd.

tree falls down on 4wd.

4wd rolls it on it's side? due to a rut or force from tree plus rut?

thought f**k it come back next weekend with something better?

who knows I suppose with back yard 4wd recovery tech.

using nylon rope for recovery leads to 1 thing....... FAIL!

id bet the plates have been taken so someone can do a driveoff.
its an easy way to do it.

Did I mention we were 3 days into our 2 week long, skiing holiday (drove all the way down from Qld)???? .... Twas to be the kids first sight of snow ........ Farkin Theivin Crunts cussing cussing cussing
