Ok. Posting this up for a mate, and I've only got limited info so bear with me.

NRMA's just told him, that on his XJ(?) Cherokee he needs a new altenator, as the guy checked the charge at the battery at it was about 3 volts too high! So the regulators shot, but, can't you just change the regulator? Or is it a one piece thing, with the alt??

2nd Question, whats one of these worth roughly? And would places repco have them? He's planning on getting one from a wrecker at the moment.

And same applies for the starter motor

Yeh mine just went to 34volts, the regultaor is in the alternator and you have to replace the lot. you can pick one up from mascot motors second hand around $80.00 or new from chrysler around $800.00
