the best i have is mcaffee security suite
its not free but it is brilliant
it is one of very few that can scan zip /rar files and remove a virus from within
it also will remobve a virus from zip/rar as you unzip it
they have free 1 yr subscription atm
i go searching for a lot of cracks hacks as i like to play round with these so i do believe it is safe
alkso i recomend going to some online scanners aswell just to check every now and then
there are heaps of online scanners like norton mcaffe
panda
but dont just rely on them make sure you have good virus and firewall
imo

AVG free edition plus all the crap Vista has. no dramas so far, warns us when there is a virus, had a few in the early days of our new puter & broadband but now things have been trouble free for a while tough wood.

I personally dumped Nortons, found it was a bloated resource hog (but left it on the PCs at the place I used to work at, as it was reasonably fool proof, which they need).

Now running Eset Smart Security (the new NOD32). Very happy with it. I've run a few online checks just to check up on it, and it's been all good.

AVG free. Had PC Cillan which was good and unobtrusive.

Had Nortons but found it took over a lot of the background of the PC. My son is getting Nortons 360 for his laptop running Vista 64. ,

Symantec Corporate edition here. Will upgrade to End Point in the next few months now that they have ironed out some of the issues.

Norton 360. I've had 360 for over a year now, having just renewed my license with version 2. Never have any problems. Isn't a hassle, runs in the background without any input, once setup. Backs up my files when I want. I've set it to backup 3 times a week.
We run AVG at work and while it's free I hate the thing. Every time the puters boot up they have to check for updates and every time they are doing something they have a window pop up and let me know. I prefer when it runs in the background and only notify's me if there is an issue I need to respond to.

I've had Zone alarm in the past and found it to be a PITA stopping me from doing stuff. I now use CA and it is excellent, very un-obtrusive and effective.

I was going to post that up.

AVG sucks balls, unless you disable the link scanner.

Norton's is brilliant, it completly disables your computer so you can't infect your windoze box with STD's from your favorite pron site.

AFAIK the link scanner is bloody hard to disable? A mate in the know seems to think Avira AntiVir is the go now that AVG is farked.
