Just got this email (apparantly) from Paypal...
We recently noticed one or more attempts to log in to your paypal account
from a foreign IP address.
If you recently accessed your account while traveling, the unusual log in
attempts may have been initiated by you. However, if you did not initiate
the log ins, please visit paypal as soon as possible to verify your
identity:
This link is walid for 48 hours.
If you do not verify your information we will make your account limited and
will start an investigation.
(weblink was here, but removed in case someone actually clicks it)
Verify your identity is a security measure that will ensure that you are
the only person with access to the account.
Thanks for your patience as we work together to protect your account.
Sincerely,
Paypal Security Team
There was no Paypal logos or anything like that on the email, so that made me suss atraight away...called Paypal and they said that if they do send an email, it will always be addressed to Mr/Mrs First name - Last name.
Forwarded the email onto their security mob.
But it makes me wonder, does anyone actually fall for this.
Leigh
EDIT : After reading what I had just posted, I think Elma Thudd is behind the scam...after all, the link is only walid for 48 hours. Wabbit season must be coming up! |

They'll send out 200 million of those emails. All they need is 0.1% to fall for it, and they'll have made their money. Hell even 0.01% and they'll be happy. |
