hey guys im looking at building myself a X-link, i dont want this thread to be about how i should build it or if i know what im doing etc! but i do have a idea i would like to run past a few of you that may no!

Ive noticed with most x link setups in the patrols they never quiiet flex the same as the cruisers! and the patrol only seems to flex a bit better than if you dont have a x-link!
So to anyone who has a x link or has seen one set-up in a patrol, what is actually limiting it form flexing more apart from shocks! is the radius arm hitting on the diff bottom of the diff housing on full flex!- I think this is the most likely answer???
If so, to overcome this issue when i build my link i am intending on removing the rear mount that holds the radius arm and relocating it about 20mm lower on the housing!, so when it flexs up it can continue to flex further as the radius arm is further away form the diff housing!
would this work??

Cheers

so your going to mount the arm lower on the diff, thus reducing under diff clearance, 20mm is alot in the end,

now i ran 3rds arms, and the limit to my flex was the arm hitting the underside of the diff, so if you look into that mybe it will help

iff you have enough lift you can run your arms over the top of your diff... have seen a cruiser with an Xlink and the arms runing over the top. with a patrol you may need new custom arms

with the patrol, the arms will actually be inline with the springs to some extent, so you have to factor that in, take a look i dont think its a straight forward job on a patrol, if at all possible,

thanks mate ive actually seen this, as a mate has done the same thing a few years back to his cruiser! It isnt really a option on the patrol as the arms are inline with a few bits a pieces!

yeah mate thats the idea! i did realise that the arms will sit lower but im running 37s and that has giving more room underneath the diff!
Ive looked into this and it seem that it will work! supose trial and error will be the best bet!

You could use 2 degree off set rubber bushes in the arms. you will get your caster correct when you fit the x link, you can fit the bushes so they push the arms down to give more clearance (IE usually one bush up one bush down to give carstar correction. instead fit both up.. more clearance + no cutting welding )
also the pedders / superior eng off set voided rubber bushes are the go IMHO
