sort of an electrical issue..

which dual battery tray to get? ARB TJM Oppositelock Piranha? It is to go in a 98 Hilux located above the passenger side wheel arch just behind the headlight. My concern is that a tray which just sits ontop of the wheel arch will, with the weight of the battery and corurgations, crack the wheelarch. The main battery is in the same position on the other side but the wheel arch has extra bracing to cope with the extra weight.

yet to go and have a look at some but thought that i would get some opinions before hand.

cheers

I have alwaya used the Piranha trays.

Some of their trays are designated for heavy duty and some are for light duty.
I have a fitment guide that specifies what each tray is rated at at home.

yeh, i have seen your store, any chance you could get a pic of the light and heavy duty trays to suit 1998 5L diesel hilux. ever heard of cracking of the guard? how do they mount? bolt to the guard or use existing holes on edge of engine bay/front quarter panel?
cheers

Ive been told the wheel arch will crack. Go have a feel of the weight in some of the deep cycle batteries. The one i have would be almost 30kg so they are alot heavier than normal starters.

I'd mod the tray to pride extra support if i could just to be safe...or just don't drive on corrigations

thanks danos you are the best! The Finger

arb dont make a tray to suit, the piranha one bolts to the wheel arch and only fits a 10inch battery. any other options for under bonnet mounting?

fu<kin hate some of the big 4wd stores. instead of giving you a straight answer to a simple question, treat you like you have no idea what you are talking about and try and sell you a completely different product to all be fitted by them etc. then when you raise issues, such as the craking, they crap on about how their r&d department is the best etc. (rant off)
