Chopper Reid Aussie Legend or Scum Bag Crim?

In 2000 Ablett became involved in controversy when a nineteen-year old Geelong woman, Alicia Horan, died of a drug overdose (heroin, ecstasy and amphetamines) while in Ablett's hotel room. After a prolonged period of refusing to answer police questions - Ablett stating he had "received pressure from certain avenues not to give all the facts" - he admitted to providing Horan with heroin and other drugs, which he took with her.

thats old news, but Im still failing to see any conviction or charge..

Only if i knew, he wasnt convicted, he wanst found guilty, and he is a "football legend", in my book he will never be anything more than a drug dealing murderer. and before anyone askes i have met him and i would rather kill myself then got thew that torture again and i wouldnt with the on my worst enemy

i wouldn't consider Ablett senior as a hero. i wouldn't consider anyone a hero based on sporting achievements. for instance, i have great respect for Kevin Sheedy, not because of his coaching or playing achievements, but the work he's done for rural Aboriginal communities.

I used to knock around with a less than honest bloke, who trully believed he was a re-incarnation of Ned Kelly. I could see an uncanny resemblance, too, even down to the full length beard.

In todays world he'd look like Osama.

First I'd like to say, the only reason this bloke has a household name is because of his books.
Name one other crim that's been incarcerated and had books published then a movie made about it and the list come up pretty quiet.
Now, I loved his books, totally brilliant, a great read and mentioned so many blokes I kicked around with myself in Melbourne, and thinking back, nobody ever really knew him. He wasn't really anyone. Seriously, he wasn't the 'up there hero' people make him out to be.
I think it's because a movie was made about him that's really made the bloke look like some kind of hero, but if you even took time to read the credits, you'd see it's mostly all fiction.

A group of mates I ride with most weekends, mostly all fat old Harley owners like myself went to see him at one of his shows a few months back.
Now, the bloke was on stage for about 15 minutes, and in this time the few stories he told contradicted each other, and one even wasn't something that had happened to him although he said it did. He was so full of lies it wasn't even a joke.

Then, they auctioned off a heap of things...axes, machettes.. (apparently authentic items of his that I later found out they'd bought a heap from Bunnings) and also some paintings.
Now, I bid on a painting, which they said was authentic. And if you know what some of his (terrible) paintings fetch, I won it for a steal of $400, then when I go to collect my win.... it was a photo OF a painting!!!
So I went off! I'd already handed over the cash, and was passed a photo of a painting!!! This was when I had an entire room of people start backing me up and going off aswell! (yeah, I felt pretty good!) Then he came over, and I upped him big time, it was classic! I knew all the security staff, as I own a pub in town and most of them had worked for me, so they all whistled a looked at the ceiling.
This was when I called out to a few mates (as I said fat old hairy bikers!) to come over and he hit the skids big time! Gave my cash back and took off faster than a dog shot in the bum!
Annoyed a few people that wanted photos, but really, if this bloke is so tough and such a hero, all I can say is that he's a braindead turd, and weak as vegetarians piss...
