Hi all

i'll be fitting a second battery regulator to the landcruiser, but in between the battery and the items drawing power i'd like to fit some kind of low voltage cutout at say 10.5 - 11 volts so that i give the battery it's best life. Is there anywhere i can get one appropriate with some kind of warning buzzer or monitor display

MILO

Hey,
I can get you one, They are rated at 40amps, and can be switched to cut out at either 12v, 11v, or 10v.
I think they are about $50 or $60 dollars

I've installed a VSR (Voltage sensitive relay). It's very simple to install, just connect it between the two batteries. When the voltage gets high enough (about 12.8) it connects the two batteries, when they get low (just under 12v) they disconnect. That way the auxillary can be run until flat without affecting the starting battery. Only thing is that when charging they are linked, so its best to get two identical batteries to save any hassles later on. I've bridged the VSR off a solenoid (more capable amps) so if I need to link them together in an emergency I can. The VSR handles 90 amps. It has an LED on the unit to show you when they are linked, but no remote warning. I guess you could mount this small unit somewhere inside if you wanted to, but under the bonnet it works just fine.
