LPG Wiring

Has anyone got a copy of or link to generic LPG wiring diagram... have searched with minimal success, i like pictures.

Trying to troubleshoot a sytem on a 60 series cruiser running a holden motor, has had second tank fitted and was dual fuel.

Wiring for gas system is very simple
you have 2 solinoids 1 to allow the gas to flow and 1 to allow the petrol to flow
you have a 3 position switch on the dash which has a positive wire going into it an 2 feed wires going 1 to the petrol solinoid positive term and 1 to the Gas soilinoid terminal via either a pulse sensor or a vacum sensor
this only allows the gas to flow when the motor is turning over avoiding a build up of gas which can cause a nasty explosion
if it has duel gas tanks you may find it also has a second swithc to switch between tanks
what problems are you having with the gas system?? i may be able to help if you can explain what is happening

I know this is an old post but can anyone tell me where i should connect the - coil wire from the pulse controller to on a Toyota 4y with electronic ignition. The coil is part of the distributor so i can not connect it to the negative side of the coil. Will it also work on the wire that supplies the signal to the Tacho?

Yes it will as the one that supplied signal to taco is the -ve on the coil

I agree, and I'd certainly connect it up. But there is a slim chance that the 4Y control module may not like it. If the module does any "cleaning up" of the signal it sends to the tacho, that "cleaning" circuit may not cope with extra current draw from the LPG system.

This is a low probability, and I would go ahead and try it. But, if your ignition control module dies, I would suggest a simple transistor amplifier on the valve signal. Lots of people here could help you with that - but it's unlikely to be required.

Thanks guys i spoke to an LPG instaler late this afternoon. and i can also wind the wire around an ignition lead approx 10 times and it will also pick up the signal. I had seen this done before but usually on the coil lead and didnt think it would like only getting one pulse per cycle but as long as it gets a pulse at least every 5 seconds it will work fine.

All in and running. Just thought i would mention although the above diagram is very helpfull dont rely on the position of the pinouts on the guage/switch like i did. I wired the guage/switch which had no markings on the pinouts as per the diagram and it let all the smoke out of the unit and i couldnt get it back in there Very Happy

Its ok though it was just a second hand unit i found at a wreckers and i had a couple of others still. Just make sure you know which pin is wich before you wire it up.

And winding the pulse wire around an ignition lead also works fine.

Ive now got a hilux grinner 1.8lt ute with approx 130 usable litres of gas for less than $500 armsup
