Apparently this was a trial vehicle along with Mercedes.
(So I am told) |

I reckon it looks great. Great as in that it looks like it came from a hollywood movie, but it looks more "fancy" than practical.
What brand/type of tyres does ADF use on the Landy's??
This truck also reminds me of the old cruisers they catch buffalo/bulls with.
If i was getting shot at, i would like a roof and bulletproof glass over my head.

as most people are right handed the passenger side minimi is designed to be on the right, also so the passenger can lean against the lsw without falling out. |

That would be ok but, Australian SASR LRPVs are right hand drive though
Note the position of the GPMG on the left hand side of the vehicle, the other on is mounted on the over head role bars and is fired from the behind the the middle of the vehicle |

pretty certain that the cruiser deisgn like that has been purchased by the south africans and possibly saudis, but have also seen LC 100 and patrols in the mid east with the hummer style MG mount, ie not the pintle as per the minimi and 50 cal |

Defence is getting the Merc GWagons in various variants I think starting from 2010. The SAS are already using landrovers which look very similar to the cruiser posted. A lot of armys are using the mercedes and they look pretty good on paper. Better than the shitbox landrovers anway. |

Yes, fibreglass would definitely be the go to protect your engine in a battlezone |

Being stuck due to broken parts cause by extreme weight may not help either ... |

The front end is defintely a moulded unit, maybe a good steel one (armoured)
the army wouldnt use BFG AT's tho |

I think it would actually be a Kevlar/Dyneema composite that they would use instead of fibreglass, Really strong and small arms resistant, but still light.

Could be water. But diesel wouldn't worry me too much... petrol would. |
