Do tell Bruce. What is it, apart from being way different to a Lexlux? |

G'day Jonsey,
mate not sure, just posting pics for Lawrie. I'm sure he will come on & tell us a bit more about it.
I'm pretty sure it's a 2.8 or 3 littre turbo diesel, not sure of the breed tho. |

The owner is Tim Bentley from London and he will be working the GPS side of the buggy. He has been building it for well over 12months. The motor is an International 2.8lt. turbo diesel with an auto behind it.( love autos) the auto is the only likness to my Hilux. I heard this motor won it's class in a Dakar. I leave next Wednesday and only have 4 days at home when I return before we leave for our OBC so if anyone wants to help Sean and I preparing the Hilux come around. I'm Excited. |

Good luck Laurie at Moroco.
I'd luv to help Sean but he's a little too far north so I guess I'll just see you both at Broken Hill.

Found the one of the of the inside Lawrie, don't know where it went.
Hope your wearing a full face hellmet mate, i don't know how well your old skin will handle being sandblasted with no windscreen
Gee i hope the other pedal is hidden, or that could be exciting having only one pedal, hope it's the go go pedal.

good luck poppy...would be good to see more AUS events adopting the vechicles being unredgested aproach,& then going by modification classes, hate wasting hundreds of $$$$ on rego!! on things that cant be driven on the road, due to the risk of heavy fines ect |

I think you will find that this car is registed.
There is a build up of it on pirate4x4.com somewhere. |

I'm back & thanks for all the support. Yes it is registered in England. It had smaller wheels & guards over them to do this but has no windscreen or roof. It really wasn't an appropriate car to do an outback challenge in. First time I drove it on the road was when it was taken of the trailer in Morocco & the steering was not right so couldn't do more than 50kph. Missed first stage & steering was adjusted that night which let me get up to about 80kph. Started stage 2 & after about 15min. we had overheating problems so that was the end of my Moroccan Outback Challenge. I did do a photo shoot in the sand dunes for the media, that was fun doing some good jumps in someone elses car. Was a nice holiday in Morocco & I'd like to thank Lee & Steve at STAUN PRODUCTS for that but it's great to be back in AUS. |

what kind of sifter is that?? it looks good for a comp car with the zigzag gates!!

Its an Art Carr shifter. Its fairly commonly used in the US. But still a PITA if you want reverse real fast on a climb. |

The motor was an International 2.8 turbo diesel & the shifter was hooked up to the 4 speed auto but power was nowhere near my old 3lt. hilux. |

Yes it is a defender grill but that was left out to fit the winch in. The bonnet was a work of art. When the four catches were released the lot lifted off. |

Mal, The site is in French & is www.outbackchallenge.com not much info there but Devon 4x4 site probably has more info. Kim Bolton was doing a costing on it & was talking about 25 Grand to do it. |
