Hey all,
Im gonna get into crawling and want a WK. Problem is, Ive searched high and low for one and cant get one in Melb. Apparently HPI are doing mods to them and adding a charger and are out of stock. Anyone know of a place that has stock in Melb?

Edit - I want the 4x4 version (obviously)...

skip the wheelie king and go the axial ax10 or the cr01 from tamiya... dedicated crawlers.. you wont be dissapointed...

Yeah, thought about that, but wanna buid it up over time as I dont have the $$$ for the others. Also want the kiddies to be able to have a bash with it and not worry about rear steer (clods) etc so its not a dedicated crawler as such. Just a bit of fun...

cr01. tamiya models and Rc have awesome details, rear steer is an option you can go later, its a kit, so you will build it and learn what goes where for when and if something breaks. parts are readily available, yada yada yada.. iv got 3 hpi savages, and found it hard enough to find a LHS that stock parts for these. They (hpi) are a great RC, but expect replacemement parts to be pricey and hard to find locally. The Hobby Man in Dandenong sell HPI and i think Box Hill are now a distributor also. Tamiya are everyware, even some toystores (toy kingdom, toyworlds etc) often stock them.

something to consider anyway..

www.rccrawler.com or www.crawlpit.com are good for information and ideas. www.tts.com.au is also a great place for crawling parts and axial kits. www.rchobbies.com.au if you cant find it in melbourne are a great store(syd. i think). www.ausrc.com is a good forum for anything RC related.

fools.

Thanks Fools, some good info there. I might just go back and have a look at the Tamiya models. Had a quick look (read really quick) at the scorpion but overlooked it as it was more than the full price for the WK and didnt come with electrics. Only have about $500 to spend all up (at this stage) but I might go back down to my local (RC Garage) store and have another looky. I know they have the scorpion in stock. Thanks for the advice...

Rc garage.. barry street boronia?? think off memory the owner is Nick? www.rcmadhouse.com.au.. if im right that is!!-it dosnt happen often but i do get lucky sometimes!

Best thing is to research what you want, dont limit yourself to one brand and be headstrong on it.. look at what is available and determine if its viable. i have read that the axial scorpion is coming in a RTR form now to, but id imagine it will be pretty pricey and info iv found says its got some cheaper parts(obviously to keep price down) the kit version has recieved great reviews, very capable out of the box, but is expensive aprox 450 for the kit alone then motor, speedy, batterys, reciever, control.. another $300..

The cr01 will require these also although the entire layout i think is a better setup than the ax10.. lower cog, repudable brand, HEAPS better body, etc.

Happy to have helped and enlightend you mate Smile keep us updated on what you decide!

Thanks heaps guys for the replies. So, is the axial a fully inclusive kit or do you buy the electrics seperately? If so what do you reckon the full set up costs are, and how can I contact Benno - through the TTS site?
