G'day,
I am using a comodore alternator on my surf and it has just been reconditioned but it is only puting out 14 volts not 14.4.
When i increase load ie. put the headlights on, the volts drop back dependant on load, but night driving it drops right back to 12.6v
Any ideas what would be causing this?
thanks for any help.
regards

hi..
mine has similar problem.
When i use the signal lights , the voltage will swing between 12 and 14 volts according to the blinkers. At certain times, my radio head unit would reset itself. Especially when i switch on the foggies or the a/c
What seems to be the problem ?
Thanks
btw .. there is a wineing sound that goes louder as i depress the accelerator. |

thanks
..
Any idea which wire it is most likely to be ?
My battery died when the wire to my winch short circuited when the heat shrink on the connectors broke off due to weathering. Thus, when i ran the winch , my winch heated up and smoke was seen from the winch .
I have repaired the winch and all is good .. seems like I have to :hunt down" the bad earth ... how do i go about it, use a multimeter to check for continuity ?
thanks again |

make sure your altinator is giving out a good charge, the added load might be putting it in a position where it cant handle it |
