Will a 24V light work when connected to 12V? Will it work at all or just be half strength? |

It'll work, it just won't be bright. What are you trying to do? |

It will work but instead of being, say 100w it will be only 50w. |

I bought a sealed worklight from Queensland Diesel Spares (a truck acc. store for the southerners) and connected it straight to the battery and nothing happened. There is no indication of what voltage or wattage it is either so I thought that maybe it was 24V and this prevented it form working. Maybe it needs a relay |

It doesn't sound like there's anything rattling around inside and as I said it's sealed with a rubber outer too Might have to have another play |

COULD IT HAVE SOME SORT OF INTERNAL ELECTRODE THAT REQUIRES 24v TO FIRE IT UP |

Actually it'll be a lot less, a Halogen lamp can loose 30% of it's output by only losing 10% voltage. |

I didn't realise that this thread was still kicking
I went back to the place where I bought the lamp from and aparently it isn't a sealed light so they sold me a bulb for it. I asked about fitting it and they said that you just pull off the rubber surround. I have since tried a couple of times but decided that it wasn't going to happen and it is still sitting on the shed floor
So yeah, the problem is the user
Thanks for the replies |

too bad ya cant see over them!
nah they are pretty damn good specially when my old man got 2 for 30 bucks each, brand new!
and they are bright as hell. and if you plan on going to any BnS balls, the people there will compliment you on the size... ...of your lights. |
