Well it seems that you enjoy throwing money at your Baby Jackaroo Wink so, with all your mods, what were the best value for dollar?
Dont know if I should go down to 32"s on the Bighorn or stick with 33's, and what are your thoughts on the ARB diff lockers?
Should I go for an ARB (can only afford one) or get a new LSD and front lokka.
Of course the other option is just a rear lsd and go for a winch set up.

Any comment/advice from anyone would be much appreciated.

So does this mean you're not selling it Dave? Thought that I read that you were... Confused Anyway its a good thing if you're not. Cool

Like Ive said before, yours has serious potential to be a great little rig once you nut out your suspension issues. And Im quite jealous of your diesel! Cool

Will you be able to fit your 33s once you drop your suspension down? You may have to fit a 2" bodylift to keep the 33s (I intend doing this at some stage and go to 33s) and surely a body lift is cheaper than buying a new set of tyres especially if you do it yourself.

As for the locker, definately go front. Preferably ARB and dont worry so much about the LSD because they tend not to last. Its a tough one about the locker. Should be a capable rig whichever way you go...
As you know, I am happy with the Lokka but it certainly adversely affects steering when you dont want it to...

Cheers,

Noel

Have advertised the truck a couple of times (half heartedly), but as time is getting on and I need a truck for my holiday in a few weeks, it looks like I'm stuck with the old girl.
Like the 33's and would look at a body lift, but seems a bit underpowered with them on (and a little over geared).
Still not sure about diff locks though, as most of the tracks I do are alone, I think a diff lock will only get me further away from help.
Thats why I am thinking of the winch set up.

Been a little quiet on here lately hasnt it?

Yeh, been wondering how 33s would go on mine in terms of gearing. Its not that great at the moment with the 32s and the v6 doesnt seem to have a huge amount of power at low revs. Yours would be a little better as the diesels have a 4.55:1 diff ratio compared to the 4.3:1 ratio of the petrols and ofcourse the torque at lower revs.
Would love to get a set of the Tera 5.38 diff gear sets but am sure that the expense would be unreasonable. Although the Aussie $$ is going pretty well at the moment so may be worth a look.
Might price some up as USA 4x4 in Melbourne sell the Tera gear...

I guess if most of your wheeling is by yourself it wouldnt be a bad idea to set yourself up with a winch. What about a handwinch?

Has been quiet around here lately. I think I'll throw a couple of new topics up and see what happens. Very Happy

Noel

Yep spent a couple of dollers on the MU ( Mini Jack #Rofl )
I think the locker in the front is the go, it really has helped the mobility of the MU, it just keeps pulling with the front wheel 3 foot off the ground. I do like having the control of the ARB as you know when you are geting into serious stuff... as I have not been pulled out since the locker went in.

As for the LSD... good for circle work and sloght traction but as soon as the wheel at the back is in the air no go, they are a bit week.

As for best value the 3" body lift was the best, cost around $200 ( doing it yourself ) and made a hell of a good look and the biggest bonus is I able to have them 33" tyres on, I now don't hear all that much banging going on under the car.

As for the winch I have used it a couple of time to get out of places where it would have been a long wait for someone else to come along but this is proabably the least used item, but you never know what will come up next!!!

And have priced those 5.38 ring and pinions, it would be about $1200 including shipping so not to bad I guess??

Hope some of this can help

Cheers
Yarno

Thats actually not that bad! Cool Who did you price that through Yarno?

Maybe if we did a group buy we could get it down some more...
