Tried to charge my piranah 2000 nimh packs on the w/e with my ice pro and it says "short circuit, please check connections" with a beeping noise till I arrow back on the unit to stop the beeping. The connections were definatly the correct polarity on the leads and on the deans plugs with no solder or corrosion to short it out.
Long story short, the Ice Pro instructions indicate that this can occur when there's very little charge left in the packs and to leave it going for 2 minutes until it continues charging or comes up with a different error message. Neither happened and I've tried a few different ways to overcome this frustrating problem. I have tried it on all three modes, i.e. discharge, charge and cycle. Chrisso/BDR entered all the charge presets into the unit for the packs so they should all be correct.
What am I doing wrong or how do I fix the low charge in the packs so they'll work on the charger?

Cheers in advance for any help. Wink

It is a bit drastic, but give the pack a quick charge straight off the 12v power source. No longer than about 5 seconds at a time until the charger will start.

I have an ICE as well, and have had to do it to get a pack up to min level. But the pack was cactus to start off, I wanted to see if the charger would bring a dead pack back to life.

Hope that helps. Brad.

Thanks Brad, I'll give it a go. Did your technique work on the packs you tried it on?
If mine don't come back to life, no huge loss as I'm soon to discover the world of Li-Po Cool However, it would be yet another loss I'd have to add to my existing list of failed parts from the clod... Gotta lurv fleabay Mad Very Happy

Big thanks to Benno goes out again, top work and thanks for all the help so far mate! Hope SOO didn't get too washed out, hope the trophy came back to this side of the border Laughing

There were 3 thophies this year, and I bought 2 of them home. I had to decide which rig to fix and which to drop out of, so the trophy is back in NSW but the Trail (2.2) one is right here bud.

As for your packs just try starting the charge a few times, they normally come up from the start up spike. Wink If it continuies then bring it around and we will have a look.

Thanks Benno, I'll give that a go before I go the direct 12v spike idea from Bard just to be on the safe side.
Tops to hear that two trophies made their way back out of 3 armsup
Even better that your brand spanking 2.2 trail buggy made the top grade mate! She was lookin' slicker than a brand new jet fighter when I saw it on the thursday. Got to play with the Red Dwarf on Friday a little before the last of the charge went in both packs, works ace!
Speak to you soon hopefully and eagerly awaiting the return of TCP online. Laughing

Neither method has worked as yet as we spoke about last night Benno, so I'll have to accept defeat till I catch ya tonight mate. Thanks for your advice Bard, I tried it to no avail though. I'll post up what happens with them after I've seen Ben.

Seems the charger isn't working on any packs either mine or Bennos. Looks like I'm sending an email to Duratraxx to explain how my 'uncle' bought it and it doesn't work and he doesn't have the receipt any more... Laughing Let you know how I go. Very Happy
