CLOSE.............But no cigar
Put the motor in today, see pics. I thought I would have a problem with the rear turbo fouling on the firewall, but no problems there, but my sump is hitting the front universal joint. Im in the process of seeing if there are any different 1JZ sumps avaliable, if not will make a new aluminium sump.
Whats the best way to work out if your gearbox/transfer case is sitting in the correct position? |

do a huge suspension lift to clear the sump/diff.
if the sticks for the gearbox/transfer line up with the holes in the floor, you're there! |

I just realised I didnt take into consideration the rest of the suspension travel. There is probably another 4" to the rubber mount at the moment, The engine is sitting in with clearance now as I have removed the lower portion of the sump. I will check what effect the travel has on it tomorrow by jacking the fouling side up. It would seem that the 1JZ must be wider at the bottom than the 7M or 1G, you didnt have any problems like this did you BUNDERA? My firewall will need a little massaging where the rear turbo is too. |
