Ok people as you may already now I have a 3.5L V8 efi engine with extractors and a mandrel bent exhaust high flow muffler yada yada.
I WANT MORE POWER........
I DONT WANNA CHANGE THE ENGINE (unless its a straight swap, one in one out)........
What would people reccomend I do next.............. if anything.........
You see I will have all the suspension stuff sorted as soon as i get the rovertym arms, and the slotted bushes from Sam (thanks MATE ).
So i need to make plan for something to do next or else I will get bored.........
Fire away chaps....................... |

I think Supercheap Auto sell KW spray. A liberal coating on your headers will be good for another 20KW or so and only costs $9.95 |

in all seriousness, ensuring your engine is breathing well is important... perhaps K&N style filter...
pull your heads off and give them a bit of a cleanup, the cast is not real neat....
then a new cam which is cheap
then aftermarket ECU
etc. etc....
There are so many things you can do... But you need money.. |

Lots of good info here: http://www.v8engine.com/homepage.htm
But I agree with TuffRR - finish something and drive the damn thing.... You may just find that your priorities change.... |

I got the K& N Airlfilter.........and am gonna be purchasin a rANGIE sPARE SNORKEL soon hopefully.
I have been findin interest in changin the cam as most of them increase torque at lower revs......perfect 4 wheelin, as you know the Range rovers Peak HP is set pretty high in the rev range I would like to lower it abit
Can some one please detail me alittle bit On what is involved in changin the cam It sounds like fun (keeps me occupied for a week.... I am a slow worker ) and also on what cams are the best for what usage ? ? ?
Cheers Boys & Girls &.......LandyMan ............... |

Ow b4 I do anything, I would like to get info on the cost the purchase a 4.6 rover engine ? As they have around 165Kw thats afair bit more than what I currently have.
I can then sell my old donk for peanuts (better than gettin nuthin back) and correct me if I am wrong but the 4.6 will bolt straight in on my Auto Gearbox.................
Also I can buy the 4.6 and have it on the stand and do the modifications and tuning and then fit it and fine tune it...................hmmmm sounds like fun
If it is a easy fit then I might not spend the cash on my 3.5 cause i willl only lose it when I change it over. |

4.6 will cost you between 6K to 10K depending who does it and what price you can get the bits for.
4.6 will use yr heads but you might need a new water pump, n shite |

I'm assuming it's your dd dude so don't spend too much on it. Stick to the usual intake/ exhaust mods and complimentary cam work and you'll have a donk with more torque, power and a nice sound for sensible $. It'll be a bit more efficient too (but rangies ar already cheap to run )
If that ain't enough get a head job/ stroke it etc. Then do the same for your motor
Save your $ for important shite like women and booze |

change a cam....
basiclly the whole front part of the motor radiator, grill etc.
also rule of thumb new cam new lifters... unless you don't want yr cam to last..
good luck |

YEAH I TRY to get in incar film set up so when I roll the vehicle down a sheer 60degrees 10.2km slope you can catch glimse of the 12678 times the car rolls.
I have spoke with chiptorque and I have herd from people saying that the replacment chips arnt all that good ? ? ? Were as the complet Haltech ECU thingy is ment to be pretty good, but for the price a different cam sounds like the way to go |

For my 3.9, a bit of port and polishing as well as a decent cam did the trick. I have yet to fit extractors, but with the later style manifold set-up, I haven't really botherd to go ahead with it. The manifolds on the EFI Rangies are pretty bloody good anyway and have plenty of room to breathe I reckon!!
I know a bloke in the Rangie Club whop has had a Uni-Chip fitted to his Rangie and found this improved performance out of sight. For about $1200 I think these are available and I'm not sure who does one down your way, but worth looking into. Much cheaper than the 4.6 option.
My 3.9 goes well and I ain't toucking it. Done 262,000 kms on the bottom end and still comes uptrumps with a compression test!!! Needs an oil change soon I suppose (been a tight arse and have let it lapsed for a while).
Anyway, best of luck,
Aquarangie
