i am in a delemer........

my battery has gone flat but it is brand new and my altinator has only just been rebuilt.

can anyone help me with why it is flat?????

jump start it and throw a multimeter on the battery to make sure the laternator is charging. Wouldnt be the first time a sparky farked up.

You sure you didnt leave anything on? Lights/door ajar?

If its neither of the above check for current draw on battery with key out of the ignition.

First time I had battery hassles was due to dirty terminals... kicked myself for not thinking of it myself but always the firt thing I check now

Hi Rookie, is your battery a wet cell?

I make dual battery charge controllers and I couldn't tell you how many times I have had customers and auto electricians ring me and say the controller was not charging the NEW battery or there is only something like 4 amps going into the battery.

In every case, it’s been a “ DRY “ wet cell, someone has forgotten to fill the battery with electrolyte.

If yours is a wet cell, your battery will have 6 removable filler caps on the top of the battery. Take them all off and make sure you have electrolyte and that it is covering the plates in all the cells.
