Forgot all about the result, been busy lately..........
So 4 straight now for the mighty Jabber and 9 out of 21 outright victories overall including lots of 1-2 finishes.
Shows the Japs know how to put them together for these types of events even though they are specially constructed with lots of goodies they still share a lot of parts common with the road going models.
Lots of carnage, emotion and unfortunately one death but an extremely gruelling event for 10,000K's............... |

This is the first year l have actually watched it in TV, l thought it was excelent. Good on you mitsubishi and everyone who actually finished, that is an acompishment within itself. Thought the coverage was great, plenty of spills and thrills shown.

I was keeping up with most of it on fox and usually try to watch it ever year...
Its a awesome event... i would love to be in it....
i feel real sorry for the guys on bikes as its such a physical, mental and emotional drain..
go the guys on trikes and those in trucks... yehhhhh.....
some very nice parts id like to re-allocate (steal)....

interesting to see they keep the suspension independent front and rear like the new paj... to a degree

wow it only runs 31X10.5r16's. i thought they would have had somthing a little wider at least to get thru all the dunes. |

Actually those are more like 32X9.50R16. Also I think they have to maintain significant resemblense to stock truck set up by the rules. I like the idea of hydraulic sway bar systems. It could easily incorporate the disconnects or even add additional travel on opposite side.

There was an article on the Dakar car in 4x4 Australia - they were calling the motor 3.5l, with 300 hp (max allowed) and undisclosed torque.
In race trim, with 500l and 4 spares!!!! the car weighs around 1750kg (from memory.) My shorty weighs almost that much with 75l and one spare, and I don't have 300hp They showed a picture of the 4 spares stacked in the back - they may not be able to get wider tyres in, and it might be a similar story for the height, too.
I found it interesting that wheel travel is limited by regs to only 250mm.
