I caught up with a couple of fellow RC rock crawling guys in January, down Oxford Falls way for a bit of fun.
The trucks included are:
- The MudCow modified Clod Buster running a hacked up road car - Mercedes body as the Jeep body was still in transit at the time
- The Rokhead modified TXT1
- Big Juggs modified Juggernaut
We had a great day. Carnage included a fried rear servo on the Rokhead and a chewed out rear diff on the MudCow.
Here are the pics. |

Big Juggs is good... but MudCow still crawled better. Big Juggs had problems with the shaft drive wanting to lift a tyre on the high traction surfaces. MudCow keeps all 4 planted all the time.
MudCow has a much lower CoG as well.
The independant 4WS was another advantage
The vids are good to watch. I am editing some more for mudcow.com and hope to have them up soon. |

I agree - the Merc body looks GREAT on the Mudcow....
Jezz there's going to be some stiff competition once this RC Crawl-off gets happening.
How did the dualwheels perform? |

Yeah the Merc body is a real beater... I have a couple of other onroad bodies that I have hacked up but the Merc takes the cake!
The dual tyres were awesome on the rocks. The tread is quite low profile and the rubber compound super soft so they grab really well. Great on hardpack dirt as well.
Matt and Adam (the other two guys) have an RCMT business and import Imex tyres into Oz. I can put anyone in contact with them if you like. They are in the business because they are RC enthusiasts, not to make a quick $$$. |

They are setting up a business and currently stock a lot of ESP, Imex, and aftermarket Tamiya Clod/Jugg/TXT stuff.
Here is their website... the full site will be launched shortly.

dont go slagging off my Big Juggs, you are forgetting to tell the folks at
home that Big Juggs was the only truck to return home with nothing busted, and it wasn't because i didn't drive it hard enough
We will have to organise a day again so you can meet BUMPY my new edition to the family. You will have to pull your finger out and finish Rock Roach |

Yeah there's a whole bunch of talking goin on here but not much else
It's all fun and games till I pull out my Wild Willy then it's all over !!
Maybe we need to run stock Clods with open diffs and two wheel steering, then we'll see how much big talk there is. It's all about the driver fellas, the driver.
Why don't we set a date to go crawling. We need to get the magazine article submitted by 28th April. I don't mind if we do it in Sydney or up at JKs but we need to get it rolling soon.
Any ideas? Lark, Russell, JK, Wooders? |
