Can anyone here tell me a simple way to remove the seal from the timing gear cover on my 2F engine. I have the replacement in hand, and it is only a rubber seal. It looks like there's a metal bushing of some sort in there as well. The manual I have saye to drive it out with a piece of tubing. I'm probably missing something real simple here... thanx for any help! |

Do you have the timing case removed?
I beleive in the manual it is telling you to drive it out with a piece of tube while the case is removed from the engine.
I usually just drive a screwdriver into the outer edge of the seal and twist it out. It sometimes requires this to be done in a couple of places around the seal to remove it. |

I'm not certain on the dimensions of the seal, but I normally drive a few long screws into the face of the seal - careful not to score the seal surface on the shaft - then remove the seal with careful use of leverage. you can buy dedicated seal removers, but they are spendy and don't do the job any better. |

Got it out, thanks for clarifying that. Didn't want to hash anything up. The cover was removed as I'm just reassembling after a rebuild. |
