Slow down Mud4b.
Independant steering is a bit more complicated than you may think.
The controller JK uses is around the $700 mark and mine was a coupla hundred bucks second hand and then I had to modify it.
You may be better off getting yourself a 2-Channel FM radio for now and run the rear servo off a Y-lead to the front so you can turn like a bastard but not crab.
There are heaps of other things to do before independant rear....

Talk to JK (Dirtpigs) about the model of Futaba thathe bought.
It seems to be the one to get.
Or you could have alook at the new JR XS-3 or Futaba 3PK.

You need to ask your local hobby shop to demonstrate how the 3rd channel works and make sure it's convenient and easy to use.

If all else fails we can help you research the products on-line and you can mail order the 'chosen one' from somewhere else.

Well if it's three channel (independent rear steer) that you want you need to find out how the third channel can be operated.

Some of them give you a switch in a awkward position that gives you independent rear control. Others use channel mixing to provide rear follows front in one mode and then rear opposes front in another mode. If this is the case you need to look at how easy it is to switch between modes.

Mine is a Futaba 3PJS which has been superceded by a mega-buck
equivalent from Futaba.

I love my transmitter. It feels really solid and is easy to setup and use *IF* you read the instruction manual.

I think I picked mine up new for about HKD1,800 (AUD 360) incl 2 top-end Futaba digital servos and the FM receiver. The bargain of the century mainly because they were trying to get rid of it before the new model came out.

I can program the rear steer to work with the front for normal 4WS, lock out the rear, flick a switch for crab and also dial in rear steer independent from the front. It helped me out of a number of tight situations at the last radion rockcrawler comp Wink

This is the dude I got mine from... and now they're cheaper...

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3139557134&category=2565

Mine cost US$145 + US$73 freight to West Oz. It actually cost US$63 for postage, but he can have the extra $10 for excellent service... Smile
Arrived very fast, and it was an easy transaction thankfully, being my first ebay purchase and all...

And I've been really slack, and haven't built it yet... Shockin!! *hangs head in shame* Smile

In my Opiniopn definetly.

Makes it run a lot smoother/easier, I got my clod 2nd hand with plastic bushes and it felt like they were slowing me down.

When I put the bearings it felt a lot smoother so to speak

I got mine from frontlinehobbies.com.au they were really cheap I got 2 sets for my clod (full sets) for a good price Smile

Theres probably other places around - someone else might know

Yeah definitely go the ball bearings. Fit and forget them for the life of the truck! Bushings will need to beregularly serviced and also need replacing after a while. A right PITA.
