Hi all,
My names Dan, and I'm a newbie to these parts.
I'm looking at moving on from my BMW to an Mu or Frontera
for several reasons.
The power issue has been one that is playing on my mind though.
Has anyone dropped a Rodeo V6 into one?
Or can give me any info at all, it would be greatly appreciated. |

Replacing the 2.2l 4cyl in a late model Frontera would be an easy swap as the US models had the 3.2 V6 in them... This engine (6VD1) would probably fit in a MU as well...... |

I agree with Dazz. Most modern Isuzu have the same MUA5 gearbox, so engine should be interchangable.
Have you thought about a swb Jackaroo v6? Only slightly larger but already with the 3.2 v6. And cheap too, I saw one in the paper over here in the west recently for $12k. And Ive already done all the groundwork for mods...

I agree with the Jack idea. Local parts and no insurance probs. Money better spent on useful mods rather then an engine swap.....and all its inherant problems... |

not real fond of the jackaro.
I want the Frontera for an SPL project also...
aka. a wall behind the front seats. some subs
a few amps, some batteries and some trophies.
*grins*
as well as abit of off road, light towing, and getting around town.
hence the getting around town bit is making me think, an engine upgrade would be a good idea. And i'm not sure if a 2.8L Turbo Diesel will run much better with a few upgrades.. for road use. |
