Have any of you guys had a go at making your own links?
Here are some pics of the links I make.
Unfortunately I haven't found a good supply of 1/8 scal ball ends here in Oz.
These are made out of solid 6mm dia 6061 alu bar and have 10mm of thread for the ball end... basically indestructible. I have been running this design on the MudCow for 3 years without failure. |

All the links on Rock Head are custom, but I used existing links that had been drilled, cut them to size then tapped them. I'm running the standard TXT-1 ball cups on them at the moment but they suck. They're getting too much play in them. I had some captive ball rod ends from the ESP kits but they seem to bend too much for my liking, those Kyosho ones look good. |

I reckon that you guys should look into finding supplier of stong 1/8 scale ball ends for RCMTs... they are an essential part of building up a stong crawler.
You seen the RPM ones? |

I get all my alloy rod from a marine and welding place just down the road from my work.
Its about $25 a length which is a good 6 or 8 mtrs long maybe longer .
I also have access to as much sheet ,alloy, stainless, checker plate or whatever from a mob i do work for. So if i need protection panels for my full scale i'm set
I found that the Jugg ends work well but are hard to get.
Kyosho 1/8 stuff looks good ,have to get in touch with dawn trading. |

I have since found out from my supplier of rod that he can get me 8 mm
extrusion .This would be similar to the TXT1 stock
Pretty beefy
The traxxas ball ends are pretty beefy
They would be pretty cheap too |

Russell,
I'm not real sure of the traxxas ones as i had lots of trouble with them on my maxx! I used the rpm ones like on my losi truck!
The RPM ones rock!
