I used to have one years ago but nowhere near as much flex. I'm outta touch. Keen to get back into it again.
If I wanted to get a MF flexer like these, where do I start? Is there a kit that exists or did you guys custom make it & what's involved. The servo side & engine are universal & easy. But gearboxes, frames, & suspension are the things I'd like to know about.

Hey Zol.......wow what a question.
As with anything custom there are so many ways of doing it.
With regard to the rockcrawlers with monster articulation, you're basically looking at a Tamiya Truck of some form.
The only one still available on the Australian market is the TXT-1 and it gives the most flex straight out of the box. It has a central gearbox with driveshafts running to the axles, cantilevered suspension and a nice lightweight ladder type construction. The Juggernaut is another Tamiya Truck utilising a central gearbox and driveshafts but uses plate style side pieces to form the chassis. Not as flexy out of the box but can be built to the same standard by the installation of a new 4-link suspension. The other popular truck is the Tamiya Clodbuster. The Clod utilises individual gearboxes on each axle which lessens the difficulty of designing the suspension system because you don't have to worry about the driveshafts. The Clod does not suffer from torque twisting caused by the driveshafts and the design allows for lower centre of gravity. The downside of the Clod is that it is not only no longer available in Australia but it requires the most work to attain the same level of customisation. You basically build the axles and throw the rest away.
Go check out our website at www.monstertruckparts.com.au for more pics and also www.mudcow.com for some great videos and some bragging about how good Clods are. (that was before he met RockHead )
