I am just wondering whether its worth putting extractors and a free'r flowing exhaust onto a 3.0L V6 4Runner, will it make much difference to power and or economy?? Will be doing the intake system mods to remove the air intake silencer shortly, so am wondering if I should do the exhaust also, and roughly, what would I expect to pay for the exhaust system.

Any help/info is appreciated.

$400 for some Hurricane extractors and a further $800 to an exhaust bloke if he hasn't done one before or $2,800 to someone who has done it.

I did the intake mod with extractrors and 2 1/2" hi flow exhaust ($1200) I also removed the engine fan and fitted a thermatic fan.

All these mod's combined were a worthwhile improvement, especially in trhrottle response but in the end only a V8 will make it go noticably harder.

There are better things to spend $1,200 on like 2 x auto locker or 2" suspension lift armsup

Cheers

As Struth said, the only way to make the extractor install worth while is to install a bodylift and fit the extractors yourself, is a sh!t of a job.

When my old 4runner had the V6 I ran the hurricane extractors, twin 2" pipes to past the xfer, then into single 3" with a straight through muffler (no cats). Also did the intake silencor removal mod and ran a K&N air filter. With all this there was defintley a noticable improvement in performance.

If you want to get out of it cheaper, without installing the extractors, you can just remove the crossover pipe from behind the motor and run a twin system to past the xfers, then into single. Nemesis done this on his with noticable results.

Heres some dodgy pics I did for a guy on the 4wd action forum to explain it better.
