I received my car insurance renewal notice from AAMI in the mail recently.
By logging into their web page and taking out a new policy instead of renewing the existing policy I saved $36. All details are exactly the same including the sum insured.
go figure
edit - no the disco is not insured with AAMI, it's for my jetta |

I think they are factoring on how dumb their clients are as most wouldn't do what you did |

Do you think you are being a bit stereotypical to class all insurance companies as "dumb" due to your isolated experience with AAMI? |

Well, its common knowledge that all insurance companies do 'dumb' things.
But they keep making millions every year. So they aren't really that dumb |

was it worth the $36 for the time wasted to take out a new one?
or is it more a case of i'm just trying to stick it to them? so i can brag about it on the net? |

It takes about 10mins to do your insurance online, if your slow at using a computer. So unless you get paid $216 per hour, and you have to take time off work to fill it in. Then yes, it's worth it. |

I saved just over $200 by doing this with RACV last year, and that was after adding a speeding fine! |

Banks are better for this sort of thing. The NAB offered me $12,500 at 0.0% for six months when I rang them to close a Visa account. The $12,500 was juggled through another financial institution and ended up back in the NAB earning me interest at 7.5%! |

It was more as a matter of curiosity and once I had the quote why not. Besides who doesn't check to make sure they are getting a good deal from their insurer each year? |

At least with AAMI you can talk to a person right away when you call them...
That is worth every cent! |
