What do people think about them leave them on or take them off. The ones under the gearbox and stuff.
As i am thinking about taking them. and making a smaller protection cover for the box and transfer case. |

im thinking the same. When you take them out they are actually really light weight and they do hang down quite a bit. If you can make something stronger and need the protection I would do it. |

They arn't very heavy but quite stong because of the ribbed shape, if you were to make something you might be able to get a bit more clearance by making them bend up rather than down but without professional tooling (ie press) anything you made would be undoubtably heavier - im not quite sure what you have in mind but too me it would seem to be a very small gain for large cost/effort?
Just my 2 cents, Craig |

the one under the tranny cant really be raised any higher without hitting on the handbrake, there is only about 5mm clearance there.
they are very strong tho, and it was because of these that my transfer still survived. i had the ENTIRE weight of the vehicle ontop of that plate before... the ones that go under the engine are crap tho, they dont last. if ya gunna beef any up, the sump bash plate is the one to go for |
