Automatic choke on a 4g54 (2.6 petrol)

well the auto choke on my paj has been playing up big time, it dosent seem to work at all, it overfuels like crazy when cold and i get lots of smoke(fuel rich) until its warm and i have to keep some revs on it casue it wont hold idle.

so i decided to fix it, and printed out the autochoke part from the manual, it says i have to align a part on the carby for the bimetal bits to work(they have something to do with the choke and the temp of the coolant)

but i looked at all the carby drawing in the manuals (both the big mitsubishi one and the haynes one) and the bit they say to adjust dosent exsist on my car---and yes the carby is still a minuki one

ahhhh dont know what to do.

so at the moment ive just taken out the autochoke butterfly off, it dosent smoke any more and is heaps easier to start but i need a bit of revs for 30secs or so.

is there any way i can fix it properly? or will i have to put up with the bodge fix?

they are an easy carby to adjust for someone who knows what they are doing. almost identical to the suzuki carb.
When i worked for a dealer had to do a 3 day training coarse on the mits carbs.
Its difficult to explain what to adjust and which screw does everything.
Suggest you ring a few workshops and c if you can find a mec that still knows about mitsi carbys or even zuk carbs as they are the same but smaller

thanks mate, the thing is that i do some part time work at a bus depot in the workshop, and the two mechanics i work with were still stumped on what to do but this was only after a 5min squiz. i got the usual 'mitsi crap speech Very Happy

but ill be back there on the weekend ill have a better crack at it then.

are you able to describe what to do, cant make it much worse ;D
