Years ago someone told me that if you played Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven song backwards that you could make out "satanic messages". It is not my opinion that Led Zeppelin was given the power to make these backwards sounds have a satanic message. And, no, I did not create this to show the evils of Rock and Roll. Instead I made this flash piece for two reasons: 1. I was new to flash and wanted to be better at it and 2. The backwards file sounds cool.

The way I made the sound clip was first get a copy of the original version of Stairway to Heaven (I tried it once with a live version and it never worked). Then take the file into a sound editing program (I used Windows Sound Recorder - but that was with a .wav file), and reverse it. Crop to the place with back-masking sounds. That's it.

There are other places in Stairway to Heaven that sound like words when played backwards, but this clip is the best for quality and length.

Some dude commented that he thought this was fake, so if you've listened to the sample above and are still skeptical, here is the clip in MP3 format. Flip it yourself if you don't believe me.

I did some experiementing and discovered that when I record myself reading the lyrics forward and then reverse it I can make out the messages (though not a clearly as the above example) but with some revisions in my pronounciation I'm confident I could make the words come out more clearly when played backward

many years ago when I worked in a recording studio we did the same using the audio software available and could not make out any of the words except for Satan every now and again....
but when listening and reading the reverse lyrics it certainly does sound like there is a case for it......

Maybe, but is it actually a pro-Satan message anyway? "Satan hurt us in the toolshed" - hardly likely to draw all the rock-n-roll loving kiddies into the arms of Lucifer.
