Got my AAMI insurance renewal yesterday - $589
Was the cheapest by a LONG way including DGA, NRMA, RACQ, BudgetDirect, TCIS, or anyone else, then I did an online quote from AAMI just for giggles.
$481 for EXACTLY the same vehicle, specs, mods and the value had RISEN $3840.
SO don't BLINDLY go and pay your insurance, check out online pricing and be sure to check AAMI.
Loyalty is worth less than just using an online system
Anyway good luck!! |

I don't bother with the NRMA... they want $2600 to insure my 95 VS Commodore, AAMI is less than a quarter of that. |

Correct.... The 4wd specific policies generally offer a far greater cover and give you a choice of repairer in the event of an accident rather than send you to an "AAMI prefered" repairer.
If you are in Melbourne and belong to a 4wd Club, 4wd Victoria have changed their scheme through Affinity Risk Partners and its now underwritten by Lumley. The rates are allegedly very competitive and the policy is fantastic. They will also cover agreed value to include all modifications and accessories if you are prepared to get a valuation on your truck. |

NRMA will cover you in any offroad situation in Australia wether its public or private property a gazetted road or not, also will cover mods etc.
Remember insurance only is good value if they pay your claim and only 1 insurer pays 99%of claims no one else comes close.
NRMA cannex 5 star best value insurer 07 and 08
well thats what they say on the adds anyway |

Thats because NRMA dont want to insure you, its called pricing to a market. Why would they want to insure a car or driver with such a high claim risk it would put up the price for everyone else.
NRMA are a smart company when it comes to pricing if you are a good risk you wont get better value anywere, if you are a poor risk they will give you an overpriced quote to discourage your business. |

I was once insured by AAMI on a dual cab hilux. They wiped my policy on the spot when i rang them to add a bullbar,Snorkle, rear bar and diff locks to my policy. No questions asked. They would only insure a vehicle with a maximum of 2 mods. A CD player is clased as a mod as was a UHF which were both allready on my policy. |

I did this with RACV after I got my renewal. The new online quote was about $260 cheaper than the renewal amount! |

same here, when questioned they couldnt give me an answer other than "that price is for a new policy sir" and wouldn't drop the renewal price to the online+phone quoted price (RACV) |

Yeah they made me start a new policy to get the better price, which had a speeding fine and two extra mods on it. |

My wifes old frontea (Sold now) and my cruiser are with AAMI.
Covered anywhere in Australia as long as it isn't in a timed or trail event. And I have shite loads of mod's and extra's, all listed and they are happy to cover it.
All my cruiser mod's are covered and I have claimed twice now, (Both not a fault). First time used their assemsnt center and wasn't happy with the job done, the smash repairer tried to replace my scrub bar and side step with bent pipe and hadn't even painted it properly. I asked for a proper TJM replacement and after a inspection they replaced it that day, second time I took it to my repairer and they didn't have a problem with it. Also in the wife frontera when it was rear ended, it was repaired at my repair with no drama's at all. In fact their assessor pickup up extra stuff that my repair didn't put in because it wasn't accident related, nd told them to fix it anyway.
All up, I can't complain at the service provide by AAMI. |

i was happy with AAMI last year when my old commodore got run into by a truck, thought they did everything right by me, including paying out on the 19" rim that was damaged which they dont often do.
but then today i received a letter from them, seems i have to have a discussion with some aami bloke over the accident now..9 months after it happened.. |
