Old style Kia Sportage is about 1649kg (200kg heavier than a commodore wagon) being pulled by a 2 litre motor. Performance "leisurely", economy ~12l/100km. It is a conventional part time 4wd similar to the Nissan Patrol 4wd system (as an example).
New model Sportage can be had in diesel and in 2WD (as the Hyundai Tuscon "twin"). It does not have a proper transfer case (4WD models) but is a soft roader in the Ford Territory mould.
Unless you actually have need of a true 4wd, then don't buy one. As described in the other thread they are carrying around a lot of extra baggage (100+ kg) which would never get used.
My choice would be the Hyundai Tuscon "Town car", 2wd looks like a 4wd (if that should really matter), reasonable fuel economy (petrol), or the new Sportage diesel. |
