Hi everyone,
I'm a brand new person to this site and I'm interested in buying a 95 Frontera. They look very appealing and ride nicely on the road but I've got no idea what they're like off-road. Also the one I'm currently looking at has about 175,000 k's on it, is it likely I'll have to do a lot of work to it straight away? I'd appreciate your feedback.

Penny.

Hi Penny, Smile

I've got the Jackaroo myself, but have heard that the fronteras are fairly capable offroad. It really depends what you want to do offroad, but you're not after a rockcrawling weapon then the Frontera may be for you. Out of the box, all the Isuzus tend to suffer from a lack of ground clearance so a 2 or 3" suspension lift would be a good idea early on...
Anyway, the are Frontera owners here who can give you a better idea on what to look for and what future mods may be needed so I will leave it to them...

Cheers,

Noel

I think the 95 model is the SWB 2.0l version that was built by the Poms. These things are a gutless POS. The drive train seems solid but the 2.0l Camira engine struggles to drag the weight around.

The later model 98- on SWB has a DOHC 2.2l engine (Vectra) though still under powered is a better vehicle all round than the earlier ones...

Oh and the 3.2 V6 ROCKS!!!!!!

Oh, and also look into the Isuzu MU jap inports. They are basically the same shape as the swb Fronteras but have the 2.8 or 3.1 turbo diesel which are very good engines...

Thanks for your keen replies : ) I'd like to get a later model one so I could have the more powerful engine but I don't think the funds will allow it. I'll be using it mainly for beach driving and maybe some outback driving but I can't see myself rock hopping. I'll let you know what I end up getting.

I have a V6 for sale if you are interested. It already has 2" lift and tyres, not to mention fully optioned, electric everything, CD dual Air Bags electric mirrors etc.
They are a good vehicle but they won't do what I want which is rcok crawling etc so it's up for sale.
