Just thought I'd let RA Rodeo drivers know what happered to me.
The Fuel pump in my Rodeo has been playing up (common from what I have heard). It would be fine for months then for no reason the car would just die around corners, then would start straight away or at times would take 10 mins to get going again. At times it would feel like it was on 4 cylinders then it would be good.
I took it to my 4x4 Mechnic (4x4 Excellence in Brendale Brisbane. Plug Wink ). Told him what was going on and he said, "yep it will be the fuel pump inside the tank." Great I thought, tank out (130lt long range tank).

He checked it with his fancy Decode ECU check machine thingie for any other faults. None came up so it must be the Pump. Book it in with the words from Dave ringing in my ear, "I think they are Geninue only"
AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH $$$$$$$$$$ (about $800 just for the pump)

So anyway, long story short, Tank out, looked at the pump and Dave thought, "Hey that looks very close to a SS Commodore pump." He went and had a look and numbers matched up. He called Holden, got a price of a geninue Rodeo one ($800ish) and asked price of Commodore one (about $245.00). Asked weather they would fit and was told, "No they won't, different part number" Dave said but they are the same number in the book. They won't work said the guy at Holden, you have to buy geninue.
Dave did not think it was right so took the pump down to Powertorque at Brendale to pull the pump apart and replace it with the Commodore one.

All fixed and working 100%. Total cost was under $800 for the complete job. That's remove tank, SS Commodore pump, Powertorque to pull pump apart and replace with Commodore pump and refit tank.

My cousin had the same issue. First time it completely died I pulled his pump apart and removed the blockage (broken piece inside the pump) and it ran again for approx 10 months I think.
Next it died he replaced the pump the same as you. Just the pump inside the carrier for about $240. This is the 2003 with the Isuzu V6.

Interestingly I replaced my Land Rover Disco1 pump inside the carrier with a Bosch VN Commodore unit for $100.

Nice work Bruceh. Goes to show what you can do when someone puts a few minutes of actual brain power into job.

Damn that's rude of Holden.

Thats holden parts for you. Working as a mechanic for holden, you quickly learn that the part numbers on the holden part tracker program are not to be trusted. There are a few generic fuel pumps that you can adapt to work. I made a holden 5L pump fit into a 100 series sub tank for a Tuff truck entry this year. Very Happy

Layto....
