Hi all,
Just came back from fraser where recovering a new hilux 2nd low I think I may have done a C.V left.
My questions are.
There is only one CV per side correct?
Is there any tricks when changing them?
I can get a new one for $70 does anyone know if is cheaper to get them reco?
Lastly if I pull the front drive shaft out can the car still be driven if the wife needs to?
Thanks |

So wife just pulled up went and had a look inside C.V has a torn boot so guessing there are 2 c.v's a side and a good chance the inside one is the offending item.
So any tips on changing them. |

Basically you can't take the cv out and just drive round. You'l lose all the diff oil.
You need a big hammer and an assortment of sockets. Pull it out to see what is wrong - I would have said it'd be th outer CV you have broken.
Maybe a silly question, but how do you know you have done a CV? |

Well I figure it must be a CV as the boot is torn and it now clicks in 4wd with it getting worse as you turn.
I can get a full shaft both CV's for $110 so I will replace the lot. |
