Hey all,
have heard many conflicting rumours.. and i wanted to get it set straight.

Is it possible to fit 33" tyres on my standard NJ lwb rims?

THe standard rims are 15x7...

IS IT POSSIBLE??!?!

I am getting a 2inch body lift
and a rear 2inch spring lift
(cranking up torsion bars and sticking with stock suspension)
does this setup sound ok?

Yes - it's possible.

33" is the diameter of the tyre - what width are you planning to use?

33x10.5 shouldn't be a problem, but there's not many tyres available in that size.

33x12.5 is a common size, but too wide to be legal on 15x7 - I think 15x8.5 is the minimum recommended size (in Australia - other countries may differ.) Some people do run 33x12.5 on the factory rims, but you may struggle to find a tyre retailer who will mount them for you.

I run 285/75-16 (approx. 33x11) on aftermarket Patrol fitment steel wheels. Currently STTs, might look at MTZs next time around.

Body lift is independent of suspension - suspension is only connected to the chassis.

Your front suspension travel is limited by upper and lower stops - adjusting the ride height only affects where the control arms "sit" normally, so total shock absorber travel isn't affected. If you start cutting stops (which many do) you run the risk of the shock absorber reaching the end of its travel - although late model Pajeros (Gen 3) don't have droop stops, and use the shock absorber to limit travel.

Rear travel is easier to increase, so that's where you may need longer shocks. I have Old Man Emu rear springs and shocks, but I don't know if the shocks are longer than factory. At maximum articulation (without sway bar) the shock absorbers bind on the control arms at about the same time the shocks reach max travel - so I'm not sure longer shocks would help (unless I relocate the upper mounts - I'm thinking about it...)
